I am honored to be the incoming President of the Junior League of High Point, and I look forward to upholding the legacy put in place by the amazing women who came before me, as well as fostering the growth of the next generation of community leaders.  This year I hope to usher in a number of exciting initiatives aimed at celebrating our rich heritage of service while also facilitating our continued relevance in the High Point community.

The theme for this League year is, “Celebrating Our Past - Inspiring Our Future” and we will commemorate this anniversary year with a retrospective of our past accomplishments.  For instance, our General Membership Meetings will feature speakers from some of the organizations that the JLHP helped to create and/or support, such as Carousel Theatre, Family Service of the Piedmont, the Haley House, Mental Health Associates of the Triad, and the YWCA’s Women’s Resource Center.

In addition, throughout this League year you will see increased training opportunities, new community partnerships, and a continued push to make our League more member (and family) friendly.  Some of the changes you can expect include:

  • Revamped General Membership Meetings with educational speakers, Done-in-a-Meeting service projects, as well as dinner and childcare;
  • A year-long Empowered Women, Empower Women workshop series focused on both professional growth and personal wellness led by local experts;
  • Substantial community impact initiatives including signature projects like Kids in the Kitchen and our Crock-pot Cooking Class, as well as new ventures including collaboration with the forthcoming Qubein Children’s Museum, new partnerships with organizations that share our focus on developing women and children, including the Girls Scouts, and coordination of the Kids Zone for the High Point Cycling Classic.

As you can see, we have an exciting League year ahead of us and we hope you will demonstrate your continued commitment to this organization with your annual dues.  You are welcome to pay by mail, online (on the events page of our JLHP website), in person at the League headquarters, or over the phone.  In addition, I hope that you will consider being an AWESOME Active or SUPER Sustainer.  Thank you for your support and your shared passion for this preeminent women’s organization.
