Teacher Mini-Grants

The Junior League of High Point has been awarding Teacher Mini-Grants since its 1982-83 year. These grants support classroom projects in High Point area schools.

On November 17th, 2009 the Junior League of High Point joined together with the High Point Area Arts Council to present the 2009 Education Grants. The Reception was held at the High Point Area Arts Council .The two organizations presented over 20 grants to Guilford County Teachers.

This year, the Junior League of High Point was excited to award 12 grants totaling over $2100 to public school teachers in our area. Of this amount, $600 was given to the counseling department at High Point Central High School. This award has the potential to impact over 800 students at Central. The committee was impressed that so much could be done with the award. The remaining grants went to fund other interesting projects such as “The Verve of Verse” a poetry workshop, “Every Child Deserves a Book”, and “String Bags”. The teachers put a lot of thought and hard work into their grant applications and the money they received will go to help children in the High Point area this year and for many years to come.

The Teacher Mini-Grant Committee would also like to thank the JLHP members. The funding for these grants comes directly from our fundraisers, and it is your commitment that makes our Teacher Mini-Grants possible year after year. We would also like to thank the Teacher Mini-Grant Committee members for your hard work in reviewing all of the wonderful applications that were received this year.

We look forward to bringing a Grant Recipient to you at an upcoming GMM to report on how the award money has benefited their school. Until then, thank you for all you do to support our Mission of giving back to the community.
